Even though I designed FF Meta (with Christian Schwartz and Kris Sowersby), I do agree with the analysis that it looks a little more formal than FF Tisa. We designed MetaSerif to be the more mainstream companion to FF Meta and looked at Times New Roman. Meta has been called the Helvetica of the 90s, and we would like to think that MetaSerif could become the Times of the 21st century. We didn’t make it as quirky as
